Gameplay Rules

1. The primary objective is to eliminate all members of the opposing team.

2. A player is eliminated when hit by a live ball (a ball that has not touched the ground, wall, or another player) thrown by an opponent.

3. If a player catches a live ball thrown by an opponent, the thrower is eliminated, and the catching team may revive one eliminated player back into the game. A player returning to the game is based on the order in which they were eliminated.

4. Players who are hit are obligated to leave the court immediately and in a sportsmanlike manner.

5. Any balls thrown by a player who is over the center line does not count if it hits someone on the opposing team. Players will be warned against stepping over the center line. Repeated warnings will result in a player being eliminated from the game. Eliminated players can return to the game through usual means.

6. Players who step out of bounds while dodging are eliminated. A player may step out of bounds to retrieve a ball during a game but the player must return quickly to the court and cannot take any actions while outside the court that could impact the game.

7. Each match is 10 mins (If the game is tied when time runs out the game will go into sudden death rules).

8. Sudden Death: 2 mins are added to the game clock. The team with the most players left after the additional 2 mins is declared the winner).

9. When players run to the center line to pick up dodgeballs at the beginning of the match any player with a ball must run back to the mid point line before they can attempt to throw a ball at the opposing team.

10. Players can pass balls they pick up off the floor to other players on their team

11. A player cannot hold onto a ball for more than 30 seconds to prevent stalling. After this, they must throw it or pass it to a teammate.

12. Each team is allowed one timeout per game. A timeout can only be called during a time when no one is throwing a ball. Timeouts last for one minute.

14. If a ball is caught before it touches the ground or another object, any player hit by that ball is safe.

15. Players may use a ball in their possession to block incoming balls. However, if the blocking ball is knocked out of their hands by another ball, they are out.

16. The referee’s decisions are final. They call hits, catches, and rule infractions.
